Who am I?

Timothy Despard is a multi-talented musician whose goal is to spread the joy of music as far as he can. Tim started his musical career on the piano in 1st grade and has since made his way into every possible area of music. By the time he had graduated high school Tim had played in ensembles such as orchestra, jazz band, marching band, wind symphony, percussion ensemble, drumline, and choir on piano, trombone, cello, bass voice, french horn, upright bass, alto saxophone, sousaphone, tenor drums, and mallets/timpani. Tim also spent a large part of his free time composing and arranging music for video games as well as his Youtube channel “GuildmasterMusic”, on which he has published almost 500 arrangements. Tim also frequently performed on the streets of Old Town Alexandria and in Washington D.C. with his brass band “The Outcasts Brass Band” That he started with his classmates in 2019. Tim began his college career at George Mason University in Fall 2019 as a French Horn Music Education major but now plans on receiving his BA in Music for Arts Management in May 2023 and his MA in Arts Management in May 2024. Tim has found a passion in Arts Management, specifically within the fields of Marketing and Community Outreach. In order to fuel this passion and find success in the field, Tim, in addition to pursuing his masters in Arts Management starting in January 2023, has found employment in a wide range of related workplaces. In November 2021 Tim began working as a Ticket Seller at the GMU Center for the Arts box office and has since worked as a donor lounge host at the Wolf Trap and camp supervisor at the GMU Jazz Band Camp and currently works as a lessons instructor at Potomac Music and as campus coordinator at Levine Music. Tim also has worked to create a stronger musical community within the School of Music at George Mason University through his position as the marketing officer for the American Choral Director’s Association as well as the president of Kappa Kappa Psi, national band service fraternity, where he developed and utilized marketing tactics that resulted in some of the highest records of recruitment within the chapter. Tim also started the GMU Irish Ensemble where the focus is learning traditional Irish music on traditional instruments as well as engaging in community outreach specifically regarding the local Irish communities. At GMU Tim has been a part of the Symphonic Band(French Horn), Jazz Workshop(Trombone, Piano), Jazz Combos(Piano), Symphony Orchestra(French Horn), Green Machine(Voice, Mellophone, Piano), Green and Gold Soul Funk Band(Piano, Bass), Mason Jazz Vocal Ensemble(Voice), Jazz Big Band(Trumpet), Latin American Ensemble(Piano), University Chorale(Voice), Brass Ensemble(French Horn), Lab Ensemble(Trumpet, Tuba, Bassoon), 8th Regiment Band(Alto Horn), and his Irish Ensemble(Banjo, Guitar, Accordion).
